Only things we did not experience were the casino, gym and massages, because we ran out of time visiting parks, beaches, farms, museums and the movies on our one rainy day. My review will focus on how the very professional staff solves challenges visitors may encounter. Issue 1 - Some inner rooms at the hotel face into the ballroom, which is a bit of a design flaw within hotel.
A major event was to be held the night after our arrival in the ballroom and our two rooms had windows looking into the ballroom The group having the event was practicing until after 12am on the night of our arrival.
What could have been an issue was solved by the amazing front desk managers and staff, including Michaelangelo, Deidre Dee Dee and Tiffany. They fixed the issue, and when another unforeseen issue came up, they fixed that issue too all without us knowing it.
We came back from a day at a separate beach and all was resolved. New better room with no noise. Plus the wonderful Roland stored and then relocated our bags to our new rooms and always had a ready smile for our family during our stay. We packed up and drove to the car rental return realizing as we pulled up to the airport that we had mistakenly left our passports in the safe back at the hotel!
We made a mad dash back to the hotel, calling to request they check our room and retrieve the passports. As we pulled into the driveway, Dee Dee and Roland were waiting in the driveway with the passports and little parting gift. What should have been so stressful, turned into a wonderful moment and we still made it back to the airport for our flight thanks to the amazing Celestino at Advance Car Rentals see my separate review on his next level service!
Meeting the Famous Ms. Ruth, the Bar Manager, who will give you great drinks and tips for exploring this beautiful island; and Meeting Ms. Sheila, Concierge Extraordinaire, who can help you plan a structured or totally free wheeling program of tours and activities. We are aready planning how to get back to Curacao and the beautiful people who live there! My husband and 2 teens returned from Curacao wee hours this morning and already we want to go back!!!
I cannot say it enough how much we enjoyed our first trip to Curacao. We stayed at the Renaissance since staying at another Marriott when we went to Aruba years ago. The property in Curacao is even better. There is a man made beach with an infinity pool located on the 2nd floor. Our room was just steps away from the beach. There is also a Starbucks on the 2nd floor and another one just walking distance from the hotel along with other shops and restaurants.
The staff was amazing. We were met by Alexis who first gave us water I think I drank more water during my time in Curacao than in this past month. He was so welcoming and helpful. Then we went to see Sheillah who books the excursions. We did ATV twice. West Side Beach day tour and horseback riding.
Sheillah was amazing; very informative. She asked what we were interested in since we had looked online before the vacation and she was very helpful and thorough with her suggestions. The rest of the staff was also very helpful and friendly. I know people will say "that's their job". But we all know that not everyone does their job with a genuine smile on their face. More about the man made beach - the view is beautiful. It's an infinity pool which overlooks the sea.
You can also see the cruise ships that dock nearby. Plus about the beach at the hotel, there is a bar and grill with waiter service. There's something to be said about being able to enjoy a drink while sitting on a beach. My daughter and I ate lunch at the pool twice and it was pretty good. It is a bit pricey but worth it. Our waiter, a nice young man, Renny I believe was his name was attentive. The hotel also has a casino, 2 restaurants and room service, of course.
The location is great. Walking distance to other dining and shopping. Definitely venture off of the property. Nearby restaurant Steak and Ribs was amazing. You sit right off of the water. A further walk is The Governour, My husband and I ate there our last night sans kids , a romantic dinner.
The food and service was amazing. Reservations are recommended if you want to eat on the balcony, ocean view. But walk ins are fine for the garden which is where we sat and it was very romantic.
Only place I say not to eat is The Iguana Cafe. I don't know what was worse - the service or the food. They are in a great location across the bridge and on the water so you may be tempted. If so, just order drinks, not food. There was a young man who brought out our drinks and cleared the table. I wanted to only give him the tip but he says they share tips which is why the waitresses may have been so indifferent and inattentive.
